Mag. Tobias Kemptner

Trainee Attorney

Where are you from and which path led you to ABP?

I grew up in Tollet, near the Upper Austrian municipality of Grieskirchen. After graduating from high school and completing my civilian service, I decided to study law in Graz. During my studies, I also worked as a machine assembly technician both in Austria and abroad. I got first insights into the world of legal work while doing various internships, which confirmed my decision to become an attorney-at-law myself.

Although I did like the city where I studied, I quickly realized that I would return to beautiful Upper Austria to continue my training. While looking for a law firm specializing in IP law and located in Upper Austria, I soon took notice of ABP and from the start, I had the vision of becoming part of the team.

What excites you about working as a trainee attorney in the IP industry?

Protecting intellectual property goes hand in hand with a company’s research and development and is therefore highly significant for our clients. To be able to be even a small cog in the ABP machine in order to realize optimal solutions for our clients both from a legal and an economic perspective is an extremely exciting task.

What does being a part of ABP mean to you?

On a personal level, I especially like the appreciative and friendly cooperation, which makes for a very positive working atmosphere. As I like doing sports, I also particularly look forward to ABP incentives outdoors, regardless of whether it involves a ball, board or two wheels.

On a professional level, I appreciate learning from experienced experts who are always happy to offer advice and assistance. Furthermore, it is very valuable that not only the training in the field of IP, but also the training as an attorney in general is pushed to better prepare me for the bar examination.
